From insight to self-creation. Vicissitudes of interpretation from modernity to postmodernity
Keywords:
interpretación, insight, cambioAbstract
Within the overall frame of passage from modernity to postmodernity, this paper attempts to draw the changes that result from a signpost of academic postmodernism, the radicalization of the notion of interpretation. Starting from its roots in the Romantic turning point, and then through Nietzsche, Kojève and Foucault, interpretation passes from being an instrument at the service of gaining valid knowledge to its becoming an end in itself. In the case of psychoanalysis interpretation departs from its use in the unfolding of psychic reality, this is in insight, and it becomes self propelled in a rhetorical realism, at the service of self-expression and self-creation. It is argued that in clinical psychoanalysis such Romantic theogony of desire involves abrogating the subject of knowledge in favor of a subject of selfexpression, in what amounts to a bet in favor of the narcissistic split.
