End of analysis. Between the ideals and the limits

In this paper the author discusses some ideas related to analysis ending, taking as a difficult issue everything related to narcissism, the ideals of patient and analyst and the limits acceptance of any analysis. She analyses her readings on Freud’s thinking about this subject, as well as Lacan’s and other authors, to back up also what arises from her own analytical experience. Beginning with the statement of a patient in the final period of the analysis and bearing in mind some aspects concerning her narcissistic suffering during the process, she reflects on the difficulties that these narcissistic aspects bring up when having to cope with analysis ending.
