Abstract

The writers outline some characteristics of transferencial and countertransferencial phenomena in young children and psychotic patients, taken from various clinical cases. They point out that the overflow of time and space of session is found more frequently in these patients than in neurotic patients. They also ponder over the possible relationship between the above mentioned phenomena and a developing or deffective mental apparatus. They stress the importance of the real life situation and the analyst’s “acting”. Finally, they suggest giving some thought to the difficulties they have to face when working with these patients, especially when trying to convey their experiences together with a necessary transitory riddance of their own time and space coordinates to be able
to go through repetition and into creation in transference.
