He tratado de demostrar que existe una relación dialéctica entre el habla y la estructura psíquica. La maduración del aparato fisiológico del habla, la coordinación de la experiencia vocal-auditiva y la organización de esa experiencia en pautas y categorías específicas son concomitantes con la ontogénesis del yo y están correlacionadas con ella. El lenguaje es un componente obligatorio de la organización biológica humana. Juega un papel mediador en funciones yoicas tan vitales como la percepción, la memoria, el pensamiento, la prueba de realidad y el control de la motilidad. Se propone que el yo pueda en realidad ser considerado como una organización vocal-auditiva, una estructura determinada por el lenguaje y que lo determina, que funciona como el órgano de adaptación característicamente humano.
