El problema de la validación científica la interpretación psicoanalítica

Publicado en The International Journal of Psycho-Analysis, Vol. XXXVI, 1955, p. 105, con el título: “The Problem of Scientific Validation in Psycho-Analytic Interpretation”.
El tema de ‘la interpretación es discutido en muchos libros y artículos en la literatura psicoanalítica. Con pocas excepciones, y especialmente en el comprensivo artículo de Siegfried Bernfeld en “Zeitschrift für angswandte Psychologie” publicado en 1932, (2) la literatura trata principalmente de la interpretación como una parte de la técnica psicoanalítica. El interés está enfocado en qué, cuándo y cómo interpretar. El problema de la validez de una interpretación en sentido científico es raramente planteado. En los últimos años algunos autores han discutido el problema de la validez de la interpretación psicoanalítica y han recalcado la necesidad de investigación en este sentido. Lawrence S. Kubie, por ejemplo, ha manifestado que “el análisis se mantiene y cae por la validez de sus interpretaciones específicas en ejemplos específicos. (...)
