Some schizoid mechanisms in René Descartes's conception of the world

Abstract

In this work one tries to show how the mechanisms playing a part in schizophrenia and the period of normal development which Melanie Klein has called the schizo-paranoid position, also take part in the formation of an ideological system, however valid or genial it may be.

Some aspects of the philosophical system of Descartes in relation with his individual story and certain characteristic traits of his personality are studied.
