Transference and Countertransference in the Clinical Diary of Sándor Ferenczi

Abstract

The paper is centered on the contribution of Ferenczi´s ideas on transference and countertransference, specially in the Clinical Diary, and the validity of these ideas in our present day clinical work. More specially these ideas refer to the circulation of archaic communication within the session, and the importance of the denial of countertransference as having an effect of re- traumatizing the patient, as shown in a clinical vignette.
