Abstract

The paper begins trying to define the concept of setting and its theoretical foundations, following with this purpose the studies carried out by Dr. José Bleger. The author differentiates what would be charges in the setting related to pathology, the moment of treatment and the kinds of patients and psychoanalysts involved, and what would actually be a transgression. Clinical material is given as an example, showing the advantages of such changes as opposed to the distorsion in case of transgression. Finally the paper refers to the consequence of transgression, which as a rule produces a-halting of the curing process and the risk that the patient does not continue treatment.
