This paper further elaborates on a manner of conceiving analytic listening following the clues left by Jacques Lacan in his La troisième (1980 [1974]) lecture. In it, analytic discourse may be construed as parting from the verbal
flow enabled by the analytic device. A mode of listening more governed by homophonic games, onomatopoeia, and significant equivocation than by a proliferation of interpretations based on meaning. A style of practice sustained
by punctuation, that warns of the intimate relationship between symptom and jouissance. The witticisms described, in the manner of the ancient Cynic School, aim to be shown, and are presented in their purest singularity.
