Identification and character

Abstract

The case of a patient is reported, whose social and professional activities were rendered almost impossible or at least extremely painful by the very serious difficulties he found in their achievement.
This situation was based on an unfavourable identification which disabled him from meeting the requirements of the social role he had assumed. Ultimately there existed an ostensible disagreement between the character assumed by this patient and the deep layers of his personality, which ended in serious difficulties in everyday life.
