Primary scene and sexual disorders in the analysis of a case of frigidity.

Abstract

Using a female patient’s clinical material, an attempt is made to show how various traumatic situations which she had experienced in her childhood caused her illness and its further evolution. In the course of the analytic treatment it appeared that conflictive situations, originated on the oral level, made the patient fail in working through the depressive position and partly impaired the further evolution of her emotional life. One intents to show as well that, together with this set up, conflictive situations
originated on the anal level caused the patient to experience the primary scene with great anxiety, because of its sado-masochistic character. As a final synthesis, one stresses fundamental events in the patient’s life and her experiences of different situations which have given rise to the onslaught of her illness.
