The author attempts a semiological examination on the subjectivity of present times in contrast with the late modernity of
a few decades ago and seeks to investigate the importance of these cultural and social changes in the starting of and development of an analytical process. The text was conceived as the opening speech in a Conference of the same title. It is therefore an oral text, which seeks to question, rather than to provide answers and conclusions.
