This is a text written at the confluence of literature and psychoanalysis. It addresses the relationship between the father and his
projection in the construction of supernatural figures, concomitant with the resistance to accepting unknowing and death. Freud devoted considerable attention to showing the appeal to the supernatural as an example of intolerance toward the lack of transcendental meaning in human existence. This text also draws on literary examples that, through fictional or autofictional discourse, work through different layers of the affects and ideals that shape the figures of the father and the bonds between children and father.
