Resignification and transcendence of the archive for the psychoanalyst

Today’s man, with technology as an instrument, has expanded the empire of today and immediacy, although we notice that there is also a new value and reconsideration of the importance of archives. The archival document is the product of continuous action and it is part of a documentary production sequence which reflects the activities of individuals and the institutions that has generated them. One of the proposals as a psychoanalyst in the archival investigation, is to interpret it in a new way and give a contemporary image to what was recorded of the scientific and cultural past of an institution, and investigate what has remained secret and enigmatic. As psychoanalysts we think the archive as a memory medium. It will be like working on one of the stages of the mnemic process, that is the impression of the mnemic trace. The impression tells us about a time, which is equal to unconscious time, which in turn, is atemporal; archive ignores time.
