Abstract

The work of the actor on his role is studied through five distinct phases: 1) Interplay between actor and character.
2) Steps in the creation of a role. 3) Forms of identification peculiar to the actor. 4) Authenticity and creation. 5) The creative process in the actor as a final result. Two fundamental aspects are stressed in the creative processes of the actor. The first is the very special forms of identification: a) Projective identification. b) Partial introjective identification. e) Partial introjective identification with two characters. d) Identification with the rejected part of the self. e) Invading introjective identification with elements of projection.
f) Final introjective identification-acchievement of a synthesis. The second conclusion is that the talented actor, notwithstanding his
degree of neurosis, does not deny or split or repress his role: he assimilates it thoroughly, coping with his own difficulties and subjecting them to his creative process
