Abstract

The paper deals with transferential interpretation and its characteristics. Bleger’s ideas on the situational, dramatic and dialectic characteristics of psychoanalysis and E. Pichon-Rivière’s idea of “dialectic spiral” are discussed. The author reflects on the explicit and implicit aspects of transferential interpretation, which assumes the attention that is characteristic of the participation
in the process itself, but also the consideration of different facets, sometimes opposed, in the mind of the analysand, which, occasionally, articulate dialectically in a back-and-forth movement in the interpretive task. Some developments on the place of metaphor in psychoanalysis and in the interpretive process are integrated, revisiting, synthetically, one aspect of
the theory of the field. Finally, based on two clinical situations, the author reflects on variations in form and content of the explicit interpretation of the transference with different patients, situations and processes of analysis.
