Some reflections on the transmission of psychoanalysis in the university

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to reflect on the scope and limitations of the transmission of psychoanalysis in the context of the Universidad de la República. Freudian texts referring specifically to the subject will be taken and articulated with the current reality. In the beginning, Freud thought that at the university level it was only possible to transmit content of a doctrinal nature. However, he envisioned a future in which analytic practice could be extended to the general population as long as the state took over the provision of psychotherapeutic treatments. More than a hundred years later,
these conditions seem to be closer, with the creation of the National Integrated Health System and the creation of the Mental Health
Program. The role of the university and the Faculty of Psychology in particular involves the training of professionals who will work
especially in mental health. It asks about the contributions that can be transmitted on psychoanalytic specificity at the university.
