Dreaming with others:group dreaming

Abstract

What is the navel of the dream? What does it refer us to? Freud, analyzing his dream, Irma’s injection, immersed in his Interpretation of dreams, arrives at this notion. Where will it take us? Freud makes us shift the course of our reading to a footnote: «There is at least one spot in every dream at which it is unplumbable-a navel, as it were, that is its point of contact with the unknown.»
This notion, filled with questions, which gives birth to this paper, becomes the driving force that guides this reflection. The contributions by Anzieu, Leclaire, Lacan and locally Gil and Casas de Pereda are useful to thread some ideas that give rise to questions, which give birth to new questionings. A change of direction, places that once reached become starting points. Can we consider this notion of the navel of the dream as a stance that can orientate the analyst’s listening? Compass-idea that can
assist us in the face of the tempting pounding of the certainties, of forcing a meaning, a final answer. Will we tolerate the heavy blow of erasing the frontiers? Living together with the doubt? Sustaining the questions?
