Abstract

Heterosexuality, since its invention at the end of the nineteenth century, has gone all through the twentieth century with a deafening silence. Its existence was mainly supported by its opposition to homosexuality, even though, implicitly it also stood as the opposite pole to perversions. Two movements have arised and had promoted the critic to heterosexuality. On one side, the technological modifications that affect, over all, the reproduction, and as these measures have incentivated their demands, they have provoked changes in the way humans relate to each other. On the other side, as the critic studies on perversion have developed, the heterosexuality has also been affected. It is relevant to consider that sexuality is not only a biological fact but it is also made of discourse. It is from that point that becomes possible to auscultate the life of the word heterosexuality, track its whereabouts, aiming to situate in a more precise way what is actually understood by sexuality within psychoanalysis. This task, as a matter of fact, has no end, since that sexuality, as the image of freudian libido emitting pseudopodiums, deforms itself, acquires new configurations and it always demands to question its knowledge.
