Early trauma Scars and gaps within the psychic

Abstract

Some passages in Freud’s work permit us to state the Idea of narcissistic traumas comparable to scars.
Narcissistic scars which, in a complex interlacing with Oedipal conflict, will suffer diverse destinies in relation to the possibilities in the a posteriori resignification of the psychoanalytic process. In the case of some patients, it is possible to give new meanings to significant spaces inside the psyche. In others, serious obstacles paralise the fertile movement of the analytic a postertori and thus contribute to the repeated persistence of feelings linked to helplessness fu situations of loss. Finally, we raise the existence of psychic gaps as an effect of the impossible task of granting meaning to events with a devastating effect on the infant’s psyche.
The diverse situations studied are accompanied by clinical vignettes.
