Abstract

With the appearance of the first issue of the “Revista Uruguaya de Psicoanálisis”, an aspiration that we had from the beginning of the activities of the Uruguayan psychoanalytic group is realized. The history of the psychoanalytic movement in our country actually goes back a few years. It was Dr. Valentín Pérez Pastorini who was the brilliant promoter of it, the “pioneer” who strove to integrate the dynamic concepts derived from Freud's discoveries into our psychological and psychiatric thinking. After his studies at the Argentine Psychoanalytic Institute, he undertook the task of developing the psychoanalytic movement in Uruguay ten years ago, a task that his sudden death interrupted a few years after it began.
